Arguably the most famous artist in the world, I think I can safely say that we've all seen some of his work before.
There are countless websites and books out there about his life and work, but I really like this one, it's very thorough and easy to navigate:
I lived in Amsterdam for a year, and there was no escaping his work, as he and the city are inextricably linked. His paintings have been reproduced on so many things - from napkins to bookmarks to scarves:
It can be easy to get nonchalant about his work but this can soon be remedied by visiting the Van Gogh museum and looking at his work up close.
